Rush Day (2-1-12): The 12 Best Songs By Rush of the 70s

Thirty-five years into their epic ground-breaking career Rush is still not in the rock n roll Hall of Fame.  Whoever thought when we reached Rush Day (2-1-12) four decades after the release of their album, 2112, that Rush would not only still be working men...not only would they still be a spirit of radio to be reckoned with...but that would still not have received the Limelight they deserve from the rock n roll community.  There's really no excuse, especially when bands like Donovan, Dr. John, John Melloncamp and ABBA are getting in before them.  Nothing wrong with these other bands...but more influential than Rush?  Really?

This spring a new Rush album is coming...but until then...let's take a look back at their first decade of work before we celebrate the next one.

Happy Rush Day!

11 Songs for the Working Man

It's been awhile since my last post. I have been touring the California countryside only shortly thereafter to be entranced in Fantasy Football bliss. Drafting fantasy football teams is about as close to actual professional sports that most of us will ever come. Sure it's more pathetic than playing on a local flag football team but somehow it's immensely more rewarding. On a flag football field when you make a great play, it's only a momentary thrill. But in fantasy football, when LT goes for 5 touchdowns and he happens to be your starting RB, you feel like the entire country just watched your player. Even the announcers seem to be rooting for you in your extremely unimportant internet game. I kid you not, last year commentators spent more time talking about fantasy stats than actual game stats. There's a revolution coming. Mark my words but in a few years, we won't even need the real players.

Happy Labor Day!

The 11 Best Songs By Rush

There are three things that plague the human race.: Terrorists, Telemarketers, and Traffic. There is no doubt if all three things were to disappear that the planet would be a much better place to live...in fact, it would be probably be very close to being a utopia. Imagine driving to work and you hit every green light. Imagine that not one person cuts in front of you and no one in front of you comes to a stop for no apparent reason. Imagine how happy you would be if you walked into work without having to use your brakes except to stop in your parking space. Driving to work with no traffic might be better than sex (I said might be). This list is for everyone who has to commute between San Francisco and Oakland. The next three months of your life will be hell. This is dedicated to all of you.
