The 111 Best Albums of the 00s (1-11):

In creating the top 11, it really comes down to finding albums that weren't only great but also helped define the musical landscape of the decade. These ablums don't need a lot of explanation of why they were chosen. If you haven't heard these discs...then you likely were in a coma for the Bush years. It's only fitting in my opinion, that the most potent artist of this decade (Jay-z) opens the decade with the Blueprint...and closes it with the Blueprint 3.0. I've been racking my brain...trying to come up with something clever to say that sums up the decade musically...but when sitting down to finally write it...I think letting the music play...just speaks for itself.

NOW...it's your turn....

What are your top 11 albums of the 2000s???

The 111 Best Albums of the 00s (1-11):

  1. Jay-Z - The Blueprint (2001)
  2. The White Stripes - Elephant (2003) - Seven Nation Army
  3. Coldplay - Parachutes (2000) - Yellow
  4. Beck - Sea Change (2002) - Lost Cause
  5. Green Day - American Idiot (2004) - American Idiot
  6. Radiohead - In Rainbows (2007) - Reckoner
  7. Kanye West - College Drop-Out (2004)
  8. The Arcade Fire - Funeral (2004) - Laika

The 11 Best Songs By The White Stripes

Led Zeppelin is dead. Well, technically only one of them is dead. But that's not what I'm really talking about. What I'm referring to is the balls out rock and roll of yesteryear. There has not been...nor will there ever be another Led Zeppelin. And we are a weaker society because of it. At least in past years, bands tried to follow in their footsteps. Whitesnake, Def Leppard, even freaking Pearl Jam tried to bring rock back to the masses. And at times, they made a very valiant attempt. But PJ came out almost 16 years ago...yep, that's right 16 years ago!! Since there has been a void of bands who make music that grabs you by the back of the neck and forces you to bob your head back and forth with the beat. Sadly, we've been forced to listen to rap metal, which was led by a bunch of men dressed like clowns. Then we had the emo movement, which was led by a bunch of guys with vaginas. Now, we're stuck with the revival of the 80s androgynous electroclash bands, where you can't even tell if the singers are men or women. In this haze, one band has managed to carry the torch. The White Stripes. Tuesday sees the release of their extremely exciting 6th album, The Icky Thump. And I'm in now way inferring that the Stripes are the next Zeppelin...but for now, thank God they've continued carrying the Zeppelin torch.

Here are the 11 Best White Stripes songs:

1. Seven Nation Army - Elephant
2. Hotel Yorba - White Blood Cells
3. Truth Doesn't Make A Noise - De Stijl
4. I Can't Wait - White Blood Cells
5. Death Letter - De Stijl
6. Black Math - Elephant
7. Apple Blossom - De Stijl
8. We're Going To Be Friends - White Blood Cells
9. I Fell In Love With A Girl - White Blood Cells
10. Denial Twist - Get Behind Me Satan
11. Stop Breaking Down - The White Stripes

The 11 Best Unreleased Nirvana Cover Songs

What many people don't know is how prolific Nirvana was. Not only did Kurt Cobain write incredible original songs, he was also astute at taking other people's songs and making intense but unique versions of them. There are supposedly thousands and thousands of hours of tapes of Kurt just sitting around the house covering other people's songs. Rumor is, he would turn on the radio and cover the song on the radio at the moment, whether it was Tupac, Pearl Jam, or Madonna. The guy could do anything. A few years ago, I stumbled on a great bootleg that had some of the better covers. Hope you enjoy them all...
